West Ham have held talks with Olympiakos over a £16million deal for Kostas Fortounis, according to reports…
Fortounis is known to the West Ham sporting director, Mario Husillos, from their time together at Olympiakos. Husillos is said to have recommended the 26-year-old after he scored or assisted 33 goals in 43 games this past campaign.
The Greek International is a natural ball carrier and attacker. As soon as he gets possession he turns up the pitch and initially sees how far he can carry the ball. When he’s off the ball, Fortounis is always looking to run in behind the defenders and get into the box.
When Fortounis operates in a wide role, he acts an inverted winger. He likes to cut inside from the wide position to operate in a central role. And this goes hand in hand with Manuel Pellegrini’s overload in the centre of the pitch, where both the wingers in Yarmolenko and Anderson tends to cut-inside.
